You will never walk alone

I said, "The path is steep." He said, "I'm at your side." I said, "But I am weak." He said, "For you I died." I said, "Dark valleys come." He said, "I'll guide you through." I said, "But I'm not brave." He said, "I'll walk with you." I said, "Be light to me, And strength as I go on." He said, "I'm more. I'm love, You'll never walk alone." -Author unknown

The Brick

A young and successful executive was travelling down a neighbourhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic. 'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would stop....' With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot ...

Happy Easter

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio Texas. She was a patient of Dr. Will Philips. He was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favourite patient was Edith Burns. One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns. When he walked into the waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her. Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way. '' Hello, my name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter? '' Then she would explain the meaning of Easter and many times people would be saved. Dr. Phillips walked into his office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying, ''My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter? '' Beverly said 'Yes I do'. Edith said, ''Well. What do you believe about Easter?'...

Life

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the pay cheque, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favour. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career. When the carpenter finished his work the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you." The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often puttin...

Quotations on Ministry

John Chrysostom (to his congregation) : To me it is nothing when I am applauded and well spoken of. There is only one thing I ask of you — to prove your approval of me through your works. That is how you can speak well of me, and that is what is going to do you good. This, to me, is the greatest honor. I prefer it to a material crown. I do not desire applause and being well spoken of. I have one request to make — for you to listen to me in quiet attentiveness and to put my advice into practice. This is not a theater. You don’t sit here in order to admire actors and to applaud them. This is a place where you must learn the things of God. Matthew Henry: Those who teach by their doctrine must teach by their life, or else they pull down with one hand what they build up with the other. A.W. Tozer: I do not preach any new truth. I do not have any new doctrine. . . . We must have a revival that will mean purity of heart as a normal standard for everybody. We must be clean people, and not o...

A Promise from God

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) I have been going through a tough period. Never sure of where I was headed, I often sunk to the depths of despair. But recently, I received a promise from God. And that is this verse. This is hope. And hope is what I'll cling to. For where there is hope, there is faith. And, even if my faith is like a child's, then I rather prefer this than darkness and despair. Thank You, Lord!

Freely you have received, freely give.

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. (Ephesians 4:11,12) It is amazing what all people are doing for the Lord. I have been using a software called e-Sword for the past one year and it has continued to overwhelm me with all its features and add-ons. I find it a must-have tool for every student of the Bible. My dad, who preaches very often, relies on it for his preparations. But what has amazed me even more is that this impressive software is completely free. There are other programs too. BiblePro is another similar offering. And it doesn't stop with software. There are free CD tracts, free bible study, free bibles etc. People everywhere are doing what they can, and how they can for God. It's not just about going to a Bible school, become a preacher and evangelize. Its doing what you can with ...

Amazing Inspiration - Nick Vujicic

I got an email with the following content. I believe it is an amazing inspiration to all. Read through to understand what i'm so excited about. (Please do wait for the pictures to load.... you'll be stunned!). Praise God for Nick Vujicic!!! In life, go straight and turn right.. always and in all ways. My name is Nick Vujicic and I give God the Glory for how He has used my testimony to touch thousands of hearts around the world! I was born without limbs and doctors have no medical explanation for this birth "defect". As you can imagine, I was faced with many challenges and obstacles. "Consider it pure joy, my Brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds." ....To count our hurt, pain and struggle as nothing but pure joy? As my parents were Christians, and my Dad even a Pastor of our church, they knew that verse very well. However, on the morning of the 4th of December 1982 in Melbourne (Australia), the last two words on the minds of my parents was "P...

The Perfect Gift

There was only one true Christian; And they crucified Him. - Oscar Wilde How wonderful is that magnificent act of Christ's. The very act that permits me to write this! The son of God; the King of kings; the Lord of lords. The very thing that he could have passed off, if he choose to. Men rebelled against the creator who gave them life. Who made them what they are. Who gave them the power, to do what they chose. And men; blinded by their pride, their thirst for power, their hatred; chose to reject the very God whom they worshipped! Even those who were with him deserted him at his most neediest hour. Lonely, despised, rejected, Christ suffered what each one of us should have. Instead he took upon himself the burden of the cross. God's son, the Holy Prince; having power greater than anything on earth. Having authority incomparable, he showed a way that was different. There was something greater than pride; something greater than power. And that was love! The perfect sacrifice! God...

What's with the title?

That title may not appease everyone, but i mean it very well. How many of us have sat and thought whether Jesus dying on the cross was a blessing? Well I have.. And that's why I thank him.. Its hard to understand this logic.. but if Jesus had not shed his blood on the cross, none of us would have been here.. Who can say that they would have been saved without Christ's death? I'm sorry to say this, but none of us qualify. We are all responsible for crucifying him. Each time we sin, remember the painful blows that he had to go through for that, remember the nails driving through his body, remember the blood gushing out. And yet, he loved us. Immeasureably!!! Think about it. That's why even though i am guilty of crucifying him, i am thankful for him taking up the cross!! It's because he conquered sin and death, that i am able to write this blog. So thanks is not the right word. In fact, no word suits. I'm grateful; amazed at his love for us.... Wo...
